How am I doing?

Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well and you are having a nice semester. I know that we are getting closer to important tests, but be calm and prepare for what is coming. If you see that you have too much things to do, don't panic and face them one at a time. May be you don't finish everything, but at least you would have moved forward and sooner or later you will keep up to date.

About a month ago I told you that I get in Biochemistry. Now I'm going to tell you how I am doing, especially what the subject is that I have liked the most.

Getting in the university has been a big challenge for me. I realized that my study method was horrible, my priorities were disordered and my capability to plan and respect my own planning was very weak. Every subject has been a challenge for me and even the varied schedule it was something to deal with. Even though it has been difficult for me and I have been sad and frustrated sometimes, I'm happy because I think that it has made me grow.

One of the subjects that have meant the biggest challenge for me, is also now the one I like the most: Chemical Laboratory Techniques.

This class is mainly practical. It starts every Thursday at 8:30 in the morning and ends at 13:00 in the afternoon. We have fifty minutes of lecture first and then we go to the lab and put into practice what we learned in the last week class. Once in the lab, we get separated in groups of fifteen students approximately with one teacher each group and go to different parts of the laboratory. There is also a Technician that give us some lab materials and an assistant that gives us some advice and helps when we forget or don't know how to do something. The practical works we have done are:

  • Learn how to use basic laboratory materials.
  • use some instruments and equipment.
  • Dilutions
  • Chemical titration
  • Purification and separation of solids.
  • some kinds of Extraction.
  • among other things...

I like this subject because I have never been in a lab participating before. That really makes me feel uncomfortable and insecure. I always think that I'm going to break something or do wrong a procedure. Although a love to put into practice that I have learned in theoty. That's why I like it so much, because I have to go beyond my insecurity and the result is fantastic. That subject makes me feel like a real scientist!

I have to say that I'm very thankful to the people working there. To the teacher's for their patience to explain me the procedure again and help me and encourage me when I was scared of doing something. To the assistant for helping me so much and giving me really useful advices. To the Technician, for allowing me to pick up so much tissue paper and teaching me how to shake a test tube without a film. And to my table companion, Varinia (I don't know if it is well written, I'm sorry if I did it wrong) for helping me so much, abiding my insecurity and urging me to trust more in what am I doing.

Have a nice day and God bless you!

  1. This subject it's amazing! We will work really well on chemistry lab because we have work really hard learning on this subject the most important things of a laboratory.

    1. I hope so. I just want to still remembering what we have learned for the following laboratory course. Regards Andrea!

Two beautiful windows... (the eyes)

Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is! Matthew 6:22-23New Living Translation (NLT) source Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well. The eyes are amazing to me because of the wonders they allow us to see, how beautiful they are themselves, the machinary they have and because they are a master piece of optics. They play the role of reciebing the light reflected or emitted by the objects and lead it to light-sensitive receptors that tranduce the light in electrical impulse that is processed and interpretated by our brain as images as we know them. They are located in the upper front half of our face, with the nose between them. In our skull they are ubicated in the orbit. Their size is about 24 mm of diameter and it's weigh

My favourite piece of technology

Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well :D As you already know, we are surrounded by a lot of technological devices. Many of them have become part of our daily routine. In my case, when I was born there was already a computer in my house, so my contact with electronical devices began at a very early age. Today I would like to share with you wich one has been most important in my life. It is: the radio. Even though I have always have access to computers, and they have been very useful for me, in fact, today they allow me to recibe and found a lot of information, radio is always on in my house, mainly because my mom is used to it. That makes it important. [In this picture you can see radio on it's place in my house] Radio has been in my house since I remember. It's main value for me is its function: to play music. When I was a little child my mom used to put CDs on the radio. Now, when I listen those CDs again I remember my childhood.  In fact, I&#

Our targets

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.  Galatians 6:9 New Living Translation (NLT) source Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well. Every time we start doing something it is important where we want to get with that. Tha gives us motivation and purpose. That helps us keep on efforting for our target when we are already tired or gives us a new impulse  when we remember it. Starting a carrer isn't exempt of that rule. In my case, I'm studying a major in Biochemistry because it is a carrer that could reach me out to understand better how living organisms work chemically. My drives are that I could work reaserching about living organisms that could revert enviormental problems, making science workshops at school and maybe classes. In the first situation I imagine it with a lot of work in contaminated and clean places, a lot of time in the laboratory and also looking for information
