Hello! That's a good question. I chose Biochemistry because I like learning new things and getting deeper knowledge of chemistry and biology. Every time I can understand at a microscopic level a biological process, I wonder of how it perfectly works related to other processes. The idea of discovering just a little bit of how does God's complex creation works, it's exciting. Besides, I like to have the opportunity of take advantage of the knowledge that I already have or that one I will have, for society's benefit.
I saw all of that in the career, so that's why I chose it.
Now, How did I choose the career? That´s a little bit long story. I have already told you some details in the previous post but now I tell you more.
First of all, at 9th grade I moved to a school that prepares students for getting in university. Naturally, that became my objective during whole high school. The task was choosing what career I wanted to get in.
My first option was education, I loved to see how my classmates could understand what I taught them and see them do it better than I. But I changed my mind. I spend a lot of time without knowing what to do, but I wasn't worried about it. In the mean while I join to a science workshop, that made get interested in science world, and it started my like for chemistry and biology.
After that, I began to search for careers related to science, or something like that. Finishing 11th grade, I went to universities fairs for university applicants with a list of 14 different careers such as Phonoaudiology, Audio Engineering an Biochemistry. That experience made my list very shorter.
Asking for advice, talking with the Preuniversity Counserllor, visiting universities, researching about each career and praying a lot made my list reduce even more.
Finally, I have already give the PSU and two careers continue to be in my list: Molecular Biotechnology and Biochemistry. I went to speak with the Molecular Biotechnology Coordinator and I didn't like career's objective. Biochemistry seemed to be the one I was looking for but I wasn't sure yet. And also it still remain the question of which university choose.
The day I applied I called to a friend that studied Biochemistry at Universidad de Chile. That made me convince myself of choosing Biochemistry at Universidad de Chile.
During vacations I doubt about the decision I made. Was it really God's will? Existing so many other options, Why not something else?
I ask God about it and He showed me that He had a purpose with everything he has done in my life. So now I'm sure that I'm here with a purpose, and I can rest in that.
I saw all of that in the career, so that's why I chose it.
