Second term, here we go!

Hello everyone! welcome back. It's been a long time since the last post. I hope you had a nice term ending, and if you didn't, don't be sad because even if you didn't get what you wanted to, you did an effort for it, you persisted. That makes you grow up and learn...

 So tell me. How are you doing? How did you do on vacations? Did you have a good time? Did you rest enough? I hope you did! Did you travel some where? or there is any place or country that you would like to go to in the future? I think that is a question that we all have ask to ourselfs in some moment of our life, when we start dreaming about those longed for vacations that will come... later or sooner, they will come.

Let me tell you about the place that I would like to visit: Chile.

Why did I choose the same country where I live? Because I know that Chile is a beautiful country and has so much different landscapes due to its great latitudinal length, but I have never visited them. So if I had the opportunity to choose a place to go I would prefer to know very well my own country before going to another one. However, if I had the opportunity to go some where else before, I wouldn't reject it.

If you don't know Chile I can tell you that is a long and narrow country located in the southwest of South América. The country has two important natural barriers: the pacific ocean by west and the Andes Range by east. In the north zone of Chile it is The Atacama desert which is one of the most appropiate places in the world to stargazing. The central zone hosts the most part of chilean population. The south zone is plenty of volcanoes and lakes, and as you continue moving to the south, you start finding glaciers and an increasing number of islands. You can also visit Rapa-nui (Easter Island) and the Antártica. 

As you may see, there is a lot of places to visit here and very different from one another so if I had the opportunity to travel around all my country I would like to taste all the typical food and learn how to cook it. I would like to know the people and see what do they do for earning their lives wherever they live. I mean, in Santiago we have a lot of things to do but there is only one landscape and you can do only a certain kind of works but daily routine changes dramatically when you leave the capital city. That is what I want to see. In Chile we use to say "Santiago no es Chile", which means that Santiago isn't Chile. But, when you live your whole life in the capital city it is hard to realize of that. Maybe travelling could change my point of view.

Sometimes when you visit some place and you marvel with every single detail of it you may start thinking about settle in for a long time or even for the rest of your life. In my case I already live in Chile, but it is true that I would like to study a term abroad, work for I while if I can and then go back to Chile to stay. Anyway I would like to move to the south zone of Chile some day, because I love the welth vegetation, the rivers, lakes and people I have met in south. Although I was talking to my sister about it and she told me that I have to consider that weather in south is very rainy in winter, and we are not used to it in central zone. I won't know until I have the experience but she is right, sometimes our dreams aren't as good as we imagine...

That's is all for today, I hope you have let your imagination fly to those places you have been thinking about visiting. Now I suggest you, and me too, to consider our options seriously and start preparing ourselves now for what we want in the future, like everything in life. Lets take advantage of the great access to information that we have within our reach to guess what we need and focus our forces. We have no reason to be like those guys that didn't know that earth is round and travel to the unknown. Although it is true that thanks them we are so connected now and everybody can know that Chile exists :).

Did you ever hear about Carver?

Hello everyone! I hope you are having an excellent weekend so you can rest and be prepared for this month's first week. In this opportunity, I'm going to tell you a little bit about an important scientist, botanist, chemist and inventor from USA. His name is George Washington Carver and his story is inspiring. Postgraduate studies?

Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well. Today I am going to travel far in the future, as I did in my previous post. We are going to talk about a course that you would like to take when you finish your major degree. When I heard this I said "What?! Are you crazy? How am I going to talk about what I am going to do after I graduate if I'm not even close to gradute yet?" Anyway, I will try to look beyond that I have in front of my eyes and tell you what I would like to do. I'm just joking. I do use to look at the future but I question myself about if it is going to be as I imagine it. I'll tell you about that later.
